Upcoming Blu-Ray and DVD: Green Lantern

Photo taken from the Astroplus Facebook page

Itching to add a new superhero movie to your collection after "Thor" hit the shelves last month? Then you'll be happy to hear that Magnavision is releasing the "Green Lantern" DVD this October 16 in all Astroplus branches nationwide.

In a nutshell, "Green Lantern" is based on the DC comic character of the same name. Although there are various main Green Lanterns in the comic book series, however, the movie version focuses on Hal Jordan (Ryan Reynolds), a test pilot who is given a mysterious green ring by an alien being. This green ring gives Hal otherworld powers, with which he is tasked to keep peace on Earth and the universe. Blake Lively, Peter Sarsgaard and Tim Robbins also star in the movie.

To be honest, I'm not a big fan of Green Lantern - the comic book or the movie. For one, his superpowers remind me of the Nintendo DS Scribblenauts game. Second of all, he's green - and nothing green can really top the Green Hornet movie in my books anymore.

However, I am quite interested to see what the special features of the DVD has to offer. For real Green Lantern fanatics, the best part is that you will have a range of choices on which DVD format to buy it in. Green Lantern wlll be available in 1 Disc BD for Php1,700; 2-Disc DVD for Php899; and the 2-Disc 3D BD & 2D BD Combo Set for Php2,300.

Is your superhero addiction still not satiated? Then watch out for "Captain America: The First Avenger" also to be released by Magnavision and also out in Astroplus stores nationwide this Halloween 2011.
